From Glory to Glory

May 17, 2017·Jon Berglund

In 2 Corinthians 3:18, we read:

“And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into His image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”

This is an incredible statement.

When Paul wrote this, he was facing some significant opposition from folks in Corinth. Even though he had poured himself into the lives of these people, and even though he had planted the very church to whom he was writing, his ministry was being called into question.

But Paul wasn’t concerned. He didn’t need the recognition of human beings. He saw in his work God’s glory, and that was enough for him. When Paul came to the Corinthians, instructing them by the Spirit, he didn’t hold back. He was bold. He wouldn’t “veil” God’s glory.

But what about us? How often do we shrink back when God calls us to be bold? We can look at our lives and see that God has clearly changed us, but then, when it comes to sharing our testimony with a co-worker, we think it’s somehow less glorious. We worry about how people will react, or we doubt whether people really need to hear what we have to say.

For Paul, however, there was confidence. To him, God’s glory was so clearly evident in what he was doing, that he made no reservation about it.

What would happen if we lived that way too?
