God Is Faithful!

October 10, 2018·Elizabeth Ewens

There are a few things I’ve discovered, that I’m enjoying about getting older. Most times, people are quick to help me, it’s a good excuse when I forget something, and what others think of me really doesn’t matter as much as it did. One of the most enjoyable things for me is the ability to say without hesitation – “GOD IS FAITHFUL!”

That’s why I want to encourage you about a verse in today’s PAUSE reading, Hebrews 10:23:

“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess,
for He who promised Is faithful.”

Let’s take a moment to focus on a few key words in this verse.

Hold: Do not let go!

Unswervingly: Something that’s unswerving follows a direct path. An unswerving person or thing never turns aside or takes a detour. It’s commonly used to describe steadfast loyalty. We must be loyal to God and His promises. We don’t swerve in our faith because of something we may see or hear – we hold on to God and His promises.

Hope: Our hope is in Jesus. What He said, He will do! (see Psalm 31:24)

Profess: We need to speak what we hope for. Our words speak life or death, so we need to speak life to our hopes. Say it out loud. And when your enemy lies to you, speak out the truth of God’s Word, speak out His promises! (see Proverbs 18:21)

He who promised: God has given us many promises, and they are all true.

Faithful: He can be depended upon, He never fails, He will finish what He has begun. (see I Corinthians 1:9)

Whatever promise you’re holding on to, don’t swerve, but speak out the truth, and remain loyal to the Loyal One, who is faithful.

Why believe me? Because, “I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread” (Psalm 37:25). GOD IS FAITHFUL!!!
