I Couldn’t Pick Just One!

February 19, 2020·Elizabeth Ewens

I always look forward to getting to write a devotional about our Pause Bible reading. But this time, I just couldn’t do it. I couldn’t just pick one thing to write about. This week’s chapters are all my favorite adventures. I love them all! Adventures don’t get better than escaping your captors, being saved from your enemies, seeing miracles with your very own eyes, reading about someone who failed, only for God to use that same person to do great things and become one of the greatest leaders ever! And who doesn’t wish they could actually taste bread from heaven?! And then laugh at knowing that Manna actually means, “What is it?” Makes me laugh out loud. And that’s just in the first few chapters of Exodus!

And, at the same time, we’re reading the second half of Acts. Really?! This is when I want to stay up all night to finish the book to see how it ends. Again.

I think I love reading God’s accounts of His people and how He deals with us, because I see myself in almost every situation — who I was, who I am, and who I strive to become. I learn something new EVERY time I read a portion of Scripture. Any situation I have faced, every question I may have had, whenever I have been stuck and didn’t know what to do, I found guidance in God’s Word. Every. Single. Time.

So, what about you? Share with me something you’ve learned from God’s Word.
