Wait For The Lord

March 31, 2021·Maureen Mejia

Psalm 27:14  (ESV)
“Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!”

How are you doing? A year into this pandemic, I think we’ve all had our moments of feeling weary.  Are you, like me, a bit anxious about things opening up again and the uncertainty that comes with that? After a year of sheltering in place, I’ve found that though I love my shelter, I need more than that, I need a fortress and refuge for my heart, mind, and spirit to find rest in the Lord. Kind of like those still waters in Psalm 23.

The Amplified translation of Psalm 27:14 says, “Wait for and confidently expect the Lord.” I know waiting may be a hard thing to hear after a year of waiting, but do not despair. As the verse before this states, “I would have despaired had I not believed I would see the goodness of the Lord.” As believers, let’s hold fast to that hope, that even in these difficult times, God is still a good God.

Friend, let me encourage you today in saying, do not despair, confidently wait on the Lord! And if, like me, you may need to hear that again, “wait on the Lord.” I feel as if the psalmist included that second “wait for the Lord” just for me. We all need a reminder sometimes, and some years, like this last one, many times! Let’s not despair, but hold tight and believe that we will see His goodness!
