What is TCOTW Internship?
TCOTW Internship is a ministry of The Church On The Way in Van Nuys, California. We are here to partner with those who feel a draw towards deeper involvement with serving in and through the local church. That could look like taking steps towards pastoral ministry or just dedicating a season of their life to intentional growth and development. Students will choose a specific ministry to serve in, learn practical life and leadership skills, develop in their personal relationships with Jesus, and receive organized, foundational Biblical education.
This internship is one year long and has two possible opportunities to join; January – December or August – July.
Upon completion, interns will receive a certificate from The Church On The Way stating that they have fulfilled the program’s expectations and assignments.
Cost: $2,000 for the whole year (Payment plans available upon request)
At TCOTW Internship, you'll be surrounded by like-minded individuals pursuing Jesus while gaining hands-on leadership experience that prioritizes a healthy balance of serving in the local church, receiving, and resting.
Is there an academic component?
For academics, we partner with WMI (Western Ministry Institute). WMI is a Foursquare Certified institute in accordance with standards set by The Foursquare Church, whose history of innovative, inspirational leadership in the Church-at-large is renown worldwide. As a fully online institute, they provide comprehensive biblical education and training to those seeking to deepen their faith, expand their knowledge of Scripture, and prepare for ministry or leadership roles in the church.
WMI is backed by LPU (Life Pacific University), and, if desired, students are able to transfer the 27 credits earned towards degrees at LPU after completion.

What should I expect?
Interns will have opportunities to learn how to:
- Study and understand the Word of God
- Learn leadership and life lessons from different pastors and leaders.
- Hands-on experience in different ministry settings.
- Learn how to write and deliver a sermon.
- Grow in character development by serving the community and church.
- Have an opportunity to see and participate in daily church operations.
Sample Schedule:
Tuesdays
12pm – 4:30pm (in-person)
5:00pm – 6:30pm OR 7:00pm – 8:30pm (WMI online)
Thursdays*
4:00pm – 9:00pm (in-person)
Sundays
9:00am – 1:00pm (in-person)
*Second day of the week can vary depending on the ministry you choose for your hands-on experience
