Galatians 5:22-23  “The fruit of the Spirit is …Gentleness…”
The fruit of the Spirit helps us to know what living in the Spirit looks like and how we should treat all people. It shows us IF we are demonstrating a life empowered by the Holy Spirit.
God is gentle, and merciful even in His correction of us…We live in an “Ikea” culture – A throw away culture.  But when we are broken, God heals us and transforms us into a new person. We experience the gentleness of God even though we don’t deserve it.
What is gentleness? “The quality of being kind tender, mild mannered… founded on strength and prompted by love.”
–It is not weakness.
–It is quiet; free from disturbance
1 Peter 3:4 – This verse is not about a woman being silent or “not being” independent.  It does not mean letting others walk all over us or changing our personalities to only be quiet. It’s about being transformed from the inside out by the Holy Spirit.
Isaiah 40:11 – God gently leads us
“He tends His flock like a shepherd:   He gathers the lambs in His arms
and carries them close to His heart; He gently leads those that have young.”

Gentleness is:
Having a STRONG hand with a SOFT touch.

1 Tim 6:11 –  Men are to be gentle, not weak.
“But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.”

Gentleness is:
STRENGTH under control!

Proverbs 15:1 – “A gentle answer turns away wrath.”

Good Advice:
If someone raises their voice to you, lower yours.
Isaiah 43:18-19 
“Forget the former things;  do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!   Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

Jesus was a gentle stream to so many…
