Galatians 5:22-23, James 3:12, Matt. 7:16-20, Phil. 2:3-4
Psalm 40, 27:14, James 5:7, 1 Peter 3:9, 1 Cor 13:4-8

Our society doesn’t support “patience” very much.
We live a lot of the time by instant gratification…
-Fast-food – Drive through, order, pay and pick up quickly.
-TV shows – You don’t have to wait until next week to find out what happened.
-Shipping- 2 days (priority mail)
-Order products online and have them delivered same day on Amazon
We’ve lost that sense of wonder and expectancy for so many things.
We don’t wait very well… we talk, walk, drive & eat fast.
At times we may seem patient on the outside, but what’s going on in our hearts?
Are we irritated that we have to wait for a slow clerk? Driver? Ticket line?
Although this series in on”The Fruit of the Spirit” and we have illustrated the
different aspects of Spiritual fruit by using different kinds of fruit to make the points,
but walking in the Spirit is all 1 fruit, from 1 tree
The Fruit of the Spirit does not come naturally, we have to learn it with God’s help.
Definition:
Patience, The capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble
or suffering, without getting angry or upset.

We learn Patience in regards to:
-Waiting in the day to day of life – Phil 2:3-4
Do nothing out of selfish ambition; Do not think of myself more than others
-Waiting on God to answer our prayers – Psalms 40; 27:14, James 5:7
Wait for the Lord and His answers even when they don’t come right away
-God’s patience towards us – God waits for us – 1 Peter 3:9
His patience does not run out, He’s the God of 1st, 2nd, 3rd & many chances.

Are we walking in the Fruit of the Spirit?

What kind of “tree” do people see in me?
Am I a tree that bears fruit which reflects God’s Character?
Do I love?

The Fruit of the Spirit begins with love…1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (NIV)

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered,
it
keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails…”
