With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility!

1 Corinthians 12
Example of using power tools:
When using them you learn how to tap into power you didn’t create
with tools you didn’t design.
We need to understand about the Kingdom of God:
Jesus expects and delights in His disciples walking in supernatural power
so we can have increased effectiveness in the Kingdom.
Some people want to use the Power of the Holy Spirit, but they don’t know how to use it properly. They are more interested in the Power than in loving people.
1 Cor 12 – “Follow the way of love and eagerly desire Spiritual Gifts, especially the Gift of Prophecy.”
We are told to eagerly desire the gifts so we can build up others because –
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave…
So many people want the gifts but they don’t love.
The Biblical church in Corinth was prideful and self involved. They were so bad that the rich people would show up early and drink all the wine for communion, get drunk, and there was none left for the poor.
Love is a requirement for the gifts of The Spirit
1 Cor 12:1 – “Don’t be uninformed…”  Many churches today are uninformed in the Power of The Holy Spirit. They need to know that LOVE is always the Foundation
1- The Holy Spirit enters us when we are saved Eph 1, Rom 8
2- The Fruit of The Spirit is the evidence that we are being transformed
3- We are given access so that The Holy Spirit’s Power can flow through us
–Only God can do the impossible and He uses us.—
The heart of Witnessing is Declaration and Demonstration of Love.
That’s what being filled (or baptized) in The Holy Spirit is.
We need an encounter with The Holy Spirit to flow through us so we can minister to the world!
-Being baptized in the Holy Spirit is where The Spirit comes upon us.
-At Pentecost The Holy Spirit showed up and filled all the disciples
-Then we Overflow with The Holy Spirit to help others
Being baptized in the Holy Spirit is the initial encounter of the Holy Spirit that releases all the power God wants to give us. As we give out to others and there is a continual flow where we are re-filled and “being filled” so we can continue to minister to others.
Accessing the River of Living Water: We ALL have access!
How do we access this? Eph 4, God gives servants gifts
Read: 1 Corinthians 12, 13, 14
“Eagerly desire the greater gifts & earnestly covet them, especially the Gift of Prophecy. ” The greater gift is: The best gift for the need in the moment as the Holy Spirit sees fit.
1 Cor 12:11 – The Holy Spirit is always continuing to distribute gifts to each person individually as He sees fit in any particular situation.
(Pastor Tim did a demonstration of giving a gift of $20 and then asking the recipient to give it to someone else who needs it.)
The Holy Spirit’s Power is given because we are living in a broken world and God wants to fix it and He is working through us to touch people’s lives and demonstrate the Kingdom of God through the Power of The Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit works through us for the common good of the world. We are called to be a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. And we can only do it through the Power of the Holy Spirit. Our private gift of the Holy Spirit and Spiritual language (tongues) builds us up and then we can build up others.

Tongues are a resource for every tool we need for the Kingdom. It is not some crazy thing happening in a church. It’s for ministry. Eagerly desire ALL the Holy Spirit wants to give you to build you up and ALL that he wants to do THROUGH you.

ASK and RECEIVE The Holy Spirit!
